B4521 : Abergavenny - Skenfrith

South East Wales > United Kingdom > Europe
June 29, 2006 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.8

I really enjoyed this road which rises and falls and twists and turns for its entire length. its the sort of exhilerating fun that you'll want to do again. The surface is OK but there are a couple of dodgy junctions. One is a cross roads at the top of a blind crest on a bend, it is signed, but be aware.

Schauinsland : Guenterstal - Notschrei

Baden-Württemberg > Germany > Europe
February 19, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.5

Yorkshire > United Kingdom > Europe
November 10, 2007 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

Take the B6479 out of Settle towards Chapel-le-Dale. When the get to the Ribblehead viaduct tuen right on the B6255 to Hawes. This really is a superb stretch of road and one of the finest in the dales. The first half is a rollercoaster of a road with a grat variety of bends. Stop at the midway point to admire the Ribblehead Viaduct - one of the classic views of the Dales. The second half to Hawes is faster and more open. Very popular with bikes in the summer, so watch out for police. An unmarked blue Subaru patrols this area so keep an eye out.

Nürburgring (toll road public open race track)

Nordrhein-Westfalen > Germany > Europe
November 6, 2007 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

The legendary famous and extremely dangerous race track that saw Niki Lauda burning in his F1 car with the Marshalls unable to reach him. Because of saftey standards, this racetrack is no longer in use, but thanks to free enterprise it has been opened to the public as a Toll Road. Can that really be? OH YES!! Fantastic!!

A2 : Larne - Portrush ( Antrim Coast Road )

Ulster (Northern Ireland)... > United Kingdom > Europe
October 3, 2007 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.5

As anyone who has ridden this road knows. Its extremely technical, and needs to be thought-out before you take off like a head-less chicken, thinking that you are Gods gift to motorcycling. It takes extremely good observation and positioning skills, and a lot of knowing your own limitations, and your machines. If you ride with a group, it can be a rewarding blat, and there is definetly a feel-good factor at the end, especially if you have the confidence to go via the Torr head route, which is NOT! for the faint hearted! Ride the road that i believe is probably the most technical in the U.K. A good Enhanced Advanced ride: If you dare be that progressive.
This Antrim Coast Road or the A.2. does exist, as we took 21 people over it in the summer, and also the PSNI used to train their pursuit car and motorcyclists along it at; I know this, because thats were i got my instructors certificate..eventually! ha! ha! (So it is there.)

B4455 : Halford - Wibtoft ( Fosse way )

East Midlands > United Kingdom > Europe
October 3, 2008 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

Was expecting a straight boring piece of road,But theres some nice bendy bits and a few changes in elevation, seems to be popular as a cut through but give it a try.

B6047 : Market Harborough - Melton Mowbray

East Midlands > United Kingdom > Europe
January 18, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.1

A great variety on this stretch with some lovely testing sections. Nice bends and rare police presence (except in the villages). The stretch after the A47 is probably the best bit with a string of fantastic bends and a very naughty left hander! Enjoy

A484 : Cardigan - Carmarthen

Mid Wales > United Kingdom > Europe
December 6, 2007 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.3

Some nice corners and a good road surface, watch out for the speed camera just before Carmarthen

A40 : Abergavenny - Llandovery

South East Wales > United Kingdom > Europe
December 30, 2004 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.1

Lots of open corners with good visibility on this stretch. Be aware of some Police presence, even sometimes from the air.

A488 : Bishops Castle - Knighton

West Midlands > United Kingdom > Europe
July 13, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.8

A nice romp through the Shropshire Hills. Nothing too challenging, just nice sweeping bends. Tarmac is a bit rough in places, but not enough to deter from the enjoyment.

B1248 : Malton - Wetwang

North East England > United Kingdom > Europe
June 25, 2008 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

This is a good blasting road, with one or two things to look out for.Leaving Malton pick up the B1248 Beverley road, once out of town you can pick up the pace with few surprises except one, when you see a sign for humpback bridge, slow down,as immediately after the bridge there is a tight right hander, the first time I rode this six of us had to use someones driveway as an emergency runoff lane. This brings us to the charmingly named North Grimston, and it certainly is.Back on the case and the road opens up after a short section of twists through the trees, now you can press on a bit,a couple of farm entrances to watch for,but they are easy to see. When you get to the roundabout,go straight over, but be aware that hidden in the trees is a picnic area with a tea shop, this is a very popular stop for bikes,if you dont fancy this ,a mile or so up the road is the curiously named Wetwang, look for the chip shop next to the Black Swan pub, proper grub!

A6112 : Grantshouse - Coldstream

South Scotland > United Kingdom > Europe
November 5, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

Great ride to give the gearbox a workout. Plenty of corners to link together both tightening and opening out. Uphill and downhill twisty sections, swoopers, 2nd/1st gear 90degree corners (watch out for a couple where the road appears to go straight on!). Very rewarding if you get it right. For some reason rides better south to north than vice-versa. On one occasion saw Mr Plod parked up, but he left us alone, main hazards are farmers and gravel.

N330 : Almansa - Requena

Madrid/Castilla-La Mancha... > Spain > Europe
November 2, 2006 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

One of the best roads we found in Spain to date - a great surface for most of the rural sections where the roads twists its way through the mountains. Great for knee down work although respect is due when going through the villages. No police presence noted. Forms a good link with the Almansa - Pinoso route when heading North/South through Spain.

N330 : Teruel - Torrebaja

Communidad Valencian/Murc... > Spain > Europe
July 12, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.5

This is what biking is all about. Straights at the start and finish, big twisty section in the middle through some unbelieveable scenery set into a couple of canyons and pretty little villages with cafes at good intervals. Not many big vehicles could make it down this road and I certainly didn't see any. Best to do it from north to south as I think the road surface is a little better.

N152 / La Collada de Toses : Queixans - Sant Cristòfol

Catalunya > Spain > Europe
May 23, 2006 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

Absolutely stunning piece of road - one of the best I've ridden anywhere in Europe. Classis mountain twisties, smooth tarmac, no traffic. It's hard to pick out one stretch of the N260/N152 route across the pyrenees as being the'best', but this is probably my favourite of the lot. You can really open up a big sports bike along here, but make sure your brakes are up to the job - they'll take a real hammering on the downhills.

N260 : Boltaña - Biescas ( Cotefablo )

Aragon > Spain > Europe
May 16, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.3

A very good road that offers some nice scenary, some great turns and a short tunnel section through the mountain. Can be busy around Broto (or at least in Spanis terms). Well worth a look.

N260 : La Seu d'Urgell (nr Riberra D'Urgell) - Sort - El Pont de Suert - Ainsa

Catalunya > Spain > Europe
December 15, 2004 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.8

La Seu d'Urgell - Sort section
An unbelievably good road across the pyrenees which runs from quite close to the Andorran border down to the town of Sort. There are many fast open corners with great visibility, allowing you to use road width to the full. This is one of if not the best road I ever rode. A must if you are in the area. The only downside is that sometimes some cattle walk into the road, but this is only a problem on a few of the more blind corners travelling up the mountain at the start of the route.

Norton - Buttercrambe

Yorkshire > United Kingdom > Europe
July 14, 2007 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

i use this as a cut through when going to/from Scarborough rather than the A64 its a 2 lane unclassified road but a lot more fun and less traffic reasonable surface and enough bends to keep your interest up will do it one day with the camcorder mounted

A51 : Nantwich - Stone

West Midlands > United Kingdom > Europe
July 14, 2007 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

Used this road as a cut through from Oulton park this week (11-7-07)and its sweet very lttle traffic most probably due to it does,nt join the M6 at the Stone end one 30/40 speed limt and a very short 50 limit plenty of sweeping and occasional sharp bend and a good surface A class road plenty of bike warning signs so possibly popular with bikes and plod on a weekend

A713 : Ayr - Castle Douglas

Central Scotland and Arra... > United Kingdom > Europe
December 31, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

A cracking run which gets really nice South of Dalmellington. Between Dalmellington and Loch Ken there are loads of nice twisties. Some of the road surface has been replaced in recent years but there are still stretches of old stuff. After Loch Ken the road straightens out a little on teh way to Castle Douglas.

A537 : Buxton - Macclesfield (The Cat & Fiddle)

North West England > United Kingdom > Europe
November 28, 2004 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.5

The much loved and notorious Cat & Fiddle run. A brilliant road with excellent corners, it's reputation is also it's biggest problem, loads of bikers ride the route, and loads of police there standing by waiting to catch them!! This is officially Britain's most dangerous road.

N623 : Santander - Burgos (Riding with General Custer and the Red Injuns)

Asturias/Cantabria > Spain > Europe
January 17, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.4

A really good selection of tight hairpins, fast sweepers and a nice view as the road rises up from sea level to around 1000m. As this is rural Spain, you may need to pay some attention to farm animals straying into the road (although I didn't see any on the way). This route is ideal if you've just got off the ferry from Santander.
