The Izrael Valley is the agricultural center of Israel a wide and fertile valley that has been farmed for decades. This route takes you, after leaving Afula the center city of this valley up on the Gilboa range for a flight like view over this valley. The road is considered one of the best running through a forest with exceptional corners and view points. The continuation will be towards Bel Voir (Good View), an important well preserved crusader fortress overlooking the Jordan valley and "The Spices Route" that went through it. Our return to Afula will go round the tip of the sea of Galilee and up through the Yavniel Vally where looking back you will sea spectacular views of the Lake, before making the run back to the end of this ride.
This is a one way route when your going down to Eilat on a bike. Warning! - Do not attempt to do it the other way or you will be missing some of the most spectacular views you will ever encounter, coming down from the Eilat Granite massif, down into Eilat on the number 12 road, with the most spectacular views of desert mountains and a blue bay.
The road in and out from the Ramon Crater is a jem of riding the rest being very fast very desolated desert roads with good asphalt, if your not in any hurry try to leave early afternoon and run to Eilat to reach when the sun is already coming down to get some great pics of the red rocks.
A well paved, deserted back road - one of Israel Must-Ride.
Starting from the desert city of Arad we start east going down to the are of Sedom, yes the one from Sedom and Gemora which when were destroyed by god for their sins became the dead sea. The road is one of teh bikers favorites - but!!!! - it is also one of the most dangerous so enjoy it but with smarts, warm your tires before you come to full lean and remember there is no room for mistakes. after reaching -400 below sea level we turn south heading into the Arava valley with signs heading towards Eilat. at the Hatseva junction we will head west into the small crater and the Scorpions ascent Maaleh Akrabim, This is a very old desolated road with a bad surface which used to be the main highway to Eilat. at the top there is a memorial for the civilian occupants of a bus attacked and murdered by Arab terrorists back in the 50s, this is the place to stop get off and take a look back at the valley beyond with breathtaking views. We continue on the 227 and torn towards the 225 a left and a right and we are in a canyon the mouth of the big crater. this is a good place to turn your gopro on cause the next 15 minutes will be some of the best desert riding you'll ever film. this road crosses the the crater and then climbs out in a serious of twists that will make the hair on your chest curl with delight, that is if you are of the gender that has such hair on its chest. reach the top and continue for a few more hundred meters till you reach a sign left to mount Arnon, its a 2 km dirt road that any bike or biker can ride and will bring you to a spectacular viewpoint over this unique geological phenomena. return continue through Yeruham and then back through the 204 to the 25 to the 31 to Arad. at the Gas station in Arad's entrance there is a little restaurant diner pub kind of place with Football paraphernalia from around the world. The place has the best Lunch in the Area for miles and of you stay the nigh it becomes a hip Pub with Ber on tap and a good atmosphere, especially on a Thursday when the youngsters are back from Army or university.
This is probably one of the best riding roads you can find in Israel complete with great asphalt, excellent coffee and breakfast places, drop dead vistas, and some of the best twists and sweepers you can find.
We Start our morning at Zemah Junction, the southern tip of the sea of Galilee, there a great Aroma cafe in the gas station for your morning pick me up, (Warning - Do not eat breakfast here!), we start off east on HW92, you are running into what is called the border triangle where the Syrian, Israeli and Jordanian boarders meet. running along the Yarnuch river this road now runs into a beautiful canyon. just before the road runs out at Mevo Hama hot springs (you can come here at the end of your tour for relaxation, e make a sharp right turn on to the 98. Here the fun really starts when you climb out of the canyon onto the Golan plateau, with a series of turns that wouldn't shame any great alpine pass, I still remember Jeremy Clarkson from TopGear, screaming this is one of the best roads that will run us right up to the northern tip of Israel. we are running to the volcanic park of the Avital Bental reservation, on the tip of which you will find Coffee Anan a picturesque cabin with an amazing view over Syria, on a good day Damascus is in clear view only 60km away. You order the Shaqshuqua a dish of fried Eggs and Tomato sauce which is the local specialty. Coffee is good and thee is a memorabilia t-short and all kinds of goodies store on site. if not mid summer you may find yourself in a cloud of fog ('Anan' in hebrew where the place gets its name from.) Come back down make a right and find the 959 west and then down the 978 to the 91 heading back down to the Jordan valley. the part in and out of the canyon is a series of sharp turns and once out you are looking to hit HW 90 heading south back to the sea of Galilee. Follow the road down some more sharp turns and once you hit the lake take the right westerly route through Tiberias back to the starting point at Zemah Junction.
Coming down from the Golan at the second part of trip can get hot on the bike, so start your day early and finish it in winter at the Mevo Hamah Hot Springs and in summer with a refreshing dip and Pick-nick on the many beaches of the Sea of Galilee. its all right there.
This is a true gem!
Note Police presence is usually on the Saturdays and this is also the day when there will be a lot of motorcycles on the road. - Not recommended!
Note 2 - Plan of r a coffee stop at Bar Bahar Near Bar Giora great spot for a late breakfast and relaxation.
Take the 395 up and come back down on the 375 much more fun and better riding
From Bar Bahar you can take the 3866 down 5 minute drive to an amazing Stalactite cave if your in to such stuff.
A Spectacular road running right along Israels northern boarder with Lebanon. Skirting mountains and running up and down valleys this is a true roller coaster road with virtually no traffic in lushes greenery.
Within an hour plus ride you'll run clear from the Mediterranean coast to the hula valley.
