A truly delightful road. If there was a road God specifically for bikes, then this would be one of His Grand Creations. Had a major blast, sheered one of my hero blobs off - and this was on a Ducati Diavel. I'd do this road again and again...

A stunning road with spectacular scenery. Don’t expect to ride quickly; there are too many tight corners with a solid rock wall on one side and a very substantial drop on the other. Add to the mix the likelihood that there is a large camper van coming the other way taking up 90% of the road and you have to keep your wits about you. Take regular stops and simply marvel at the amazing views.

Road the south and north of the canyon in August 2006 as an offshoot while coming up the Route des Grandes Alpes. The road surface is good, traffic on the south side is minimal, north side is wider and can get a bit busier. Plenty of good turns on both sides, with the south being a bit twistier. Lots of pullouts for pictures and wear a swimsuit under the leathers because at the northeast end of the canyon there are some lovely spots for relaxing and a cool dip in the river. Set aside 2.5 hours for the ride around both sides of the canyon, pics and an additional hour for sun and swim Recommend the restaruant at the very north end of Comps-sur-Artuby. Wild Boar stew, glass of red, sitting outside people watching on the main street. Mmmmm....

This is the southern part of the French “Grand Canyon”. The scenery is unbelievable. A small road runs through the gorge with great surface and some nice corners. There are lot of blind sections but the traffic was not too heavy (even that I drove it Sunday and August). Added some more photos too.

Much less Dutch Camper Vans than the North side too but watch out for slow moving rubber necks. Oh and yes it is a VERY long way down if you get it wrong!

One of my favourite rides in France. Stunning scenery and the lake is the most amazing aquamarine/azurian blue, caused by sulphur apparently. When I have ridden this route previously I have started and finished in Castellane, which is quite a buzzy small town with plenty of restaurants looking towards the main square and plenty of space to park your bike and keep an eye on it if you are carrying luggage.

A spectacular run alongside one of Frances deepest gorges, the middle bit on the edge of the gorge has to be treated with respect, its a very long way down if you go over the barrier, bring a parachute. The bits that arent on the edge of a cliff, particularly the west end where you run down through a series of superb corners towards teh bright blue lake are great for a bit of scratching. The bridge in the middle across the gorge is well worth stopping on, just stay away from the edge. Highly recommended
