Highway 1A from Cochrane to Canmore is a scenic stretch of road, beginning in foothills and prairies, and ending in the Rockies. About half of the section is posted for 100km/h and the other half is posted for 80km/h. I find it pleasant at 130 or so. There are about a dozen or so turns posted for 65km/h and another two or three posted for 55km/h. With its recent resurfacing a skilled rider will enjoy taking these turns at 110-120km/h.
The route from Canmore to Banff requires using the TCH. About 10km west of Banff you will find the turn off the the Bow Valley Parkway (Route 1A again). Now the speed limit is 60km/h, which is ridiculous and is set primarily because youre supposed to enjoy the scenery through Banff National Park, but at 110 or so the run to Lake Louise is sweet.
On summer weekends the traffic can be a nuisance, especially on the last (60km/h) section, but taking it during off-peak times is extremely rewarding. The scenery is lovely.
