Short loop, half a day with a stop. No motorway, no dual carriageway.

Start at Forest Row, East Sussex. South on the A22 to Wych Cross, then northeast on the B2026. First stop is King's Standing, the highest point in Ashdown Forest at 223m, with the whole Weald opening south below you.

Then Coleman's Hatch and The Hatch Inn, a proper fireplace pub stop. From there the B2188 runs east to Groombridge, and the B2110 brings you back west through Withyham and Hartfield into Forest Row.

Every waypoint and road number checked on live maps and street-level imagery. I haven't ridden the surface this month, so I won't claim it.

October's the window. The heath turns, the day-trippers thin out, the lanes empty out.
